California Whitewater Rafting Website Wins Two Dottie Awards
Walnut Creek, CA. (PRWeb) March 15, 2007 -- All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting, a rafting outfitter from Walnut Creek, CA, won two awards at the 10th Annual Dottie Awards Ceremony last Thursday, March 8, in Sacramento. The Dottie Awards recognize websites from all over Northern California for their design, usability, resources and content in sixteen different categories, ranging from Entertainment and Sports, to Education and Non-Profits. Websites were nominated from all over Northern California and fifty-four semi-finalists were chosen.
All-Outdoors, whose operations are split between their reservation office in Walnut Creek and their rafting headquarters in Lotus, won the People's Choice Award based on popular vote, as well as the Lifestyle, Sports, and Travel category. Their website, http://www.aorafting.com, features a blog, photo gallery, river map and descriptions of the ten whitewater runs they offer during the spring and summer.
The Armstrong Family, from Contra Costa County, has owned and operated All-Outdoors since 1963 when George Armstrong made his rafting passion an official business. Today, the business is run by George's sons, Scott and Gregg. The rest of the family plays an active role in the company including Gregg's daughter Laura, who is one of the guides.
A small, family-owned whitewater rafting company is not the most likely business to have an award-winning website, nevertheless the All-Outdoors Web Team attended the event in full-force in hopes of taking home at least one "Dot." Sammy Russo, one of several current and former river guides who form the All-Outdoors Web Team, explained in his acceptance speech, "What makes the website so successful is that it was created by…and is maintained by river guides who love rafting and have a passion for rivers."
