Martin County, Florida Deploys MobileHWY's BlackBerry Mobile INSPECTOR?

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) July 2, 2007 -- MobileHWY, the leading provider of mobile workforce solutions for government agencies, builders, and contractors, announced today that Martin County, Florida has completed a significant upgrade to their BlackBerry Mobile INSPECTOR? application to include Request for Service (RFS) functionality for its Code Enforcement Officers.

In the fourth quarter of 2005, the Martin County Building Department had initially deployed the Building Inspection module that included seamless integration to its Kiva Development Management System? (Kiva DMS?). Today, the MobileHWY Building Inspection module is used to enter results on approximately 52,000 inspections per year.

Larry Massing, Director and Chief Building Official for Martin County stated, "The building inspectors no longer need to come to the office to enter or retrieve data from the Kiva system. We have also eliminated printing and sorting our approximate 500 pages of inspection tickets each day." Based on the success of this implementation and the needs of the Code Enforcement Officers, Martin County engaged MobileHWY for a second Phase.

Martin County currently completes approximately 5,600 Code Enforcement inspections per year. Code Enforcement Officers respond to complaints from the public along with periodic neighborhood inspections throughout the county. Prior to the implementation of the MobileHWY Request for Service module, the Code Enforcement Officers wrote down the violations while in the field, entered a ticket in the Kiva DMS? system back in the office, and then mailed a violation notice to the property owner.

With the implementation of the new RFS functionality in MobileHWY's BlackBerry Mobile INSPECTOR? product, the same process can now be completed in real-time in the field. A code enforcement RFS ticket can now be initiated on the BlackBerry and an inspection notice printed in real-time while the Code Enforcement Officer is on location.

"Being able to initiate a ticket and print notices in the field will facilitate Martin County Code Enforcement Officers to speak directly with the property owner to resolve the majority of the violations before they become cases. This will improve our customer service and productivity immensely," states Mr. Massing.

The BlackBerry Mobile INSPECTOR? store and forward capabilities also allow the Code Enforcement Officers to complete their existing RFS entries on the BlackBerry even when a wireless connection is unavailable. When connectivity is re-established, all information can be immediately synchronized to the back-end Kiva DMS? system. This capability has allowed the department to further achieve and progress three of its core values including Customer Service, Efficiency, and Technology Initiatives.

The MobileHWY RFS Module allows Code Enforcement Officers to manage their RFS entries, result existing service request inspections, create new service requests on the fly, and to print inspection notices in the field through the use of their BlackBerry device and printer. Inspection results, correction codes, and Code Enforcement Officer notes are then transmitted in real-time back to the County's Kiva DMS? system. This automated process is saving Code Enforcement Officer's time in the inspection process and providing them with valuable information at their fingertips via the BlackBerry.

"Martin County's use of MobileHWY's BlackBerry Mobile INSPECTOR? is a great success story on how our customers increase the productivity of their mobile workforces and improve overall customer service in its jurisdiction. Larry and his team are truly implementing our shared vision of a paperless process. Martin County is now able to service more customers and proactively avoid many code violations each day. We are also a big proponent of continuing to evolve the mobile solution using the phased implementation approach that Martin County adopted," stated Rob Cummings, President of MobileHWY.
