For the second year, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa - near Traverse City, Mich. - has transformed its Jim McLean Golf School into the Resort's Winter Golf Center, offering indoor and outdoor golf practice, clinics and instruction.
The facility's three heated indoor and outdoor hitting bays open similar to a garage, shielding golfers from harsh winter weather, while allowing golfers to see the full flight of their ball as it travels to the Resort's outdoor practice range. Unlike golfing simulators or indoor domes, Grand Traverse Resort & Spa's Winter Golf Center enables golfers to practice their full swing and gauge the distance and location of their ball to better improve their level of skill.
During the winter, the Winter Golf Center redefines the golf term "snowman," which refers to scoring 8 on a hole. Club Member, Jamie Bush is shown arriving via snowmobile for a lesson and practice session instructed by Head Golf Professional and six-time Champion of the Michigan Open, Scott Hebert.
