DriveWise Auto to Create a New Method of Fundraising for the Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society

(PRWEB) July 17, 2008 -- DriveWise Auto, a Los Angeles-based Charity Driven Auto Buying and Leasing Service, is joining the Southern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in its movement toward a world free of multiple sclerosis by creating a new fundraising platform for the organization.

Similar to the agreements it has with other not-for-profit organizations, DriveWise Auto will on an ongoing basis donate a portion of its proceeds to the Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society between $50 and $100 for every vehicle it sells or leases to the existing National MS Society supporter base, and for any other clients with an interest in identifying the causes and cure of multiple sclerosis.

DriveWise Auto founders Adam Slobin and Bryan Weissman have been working with Jim Elfline, VP of Operations for the Society's Southern California Chapter, who said about this new relationship, "Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between brain and body and stops people from moving. We are encouraging everyone to join the movement to bring us closer to a world free of MS. We are thrilled that DriveWise Auto has risen to the challenge."

With a goal of changing the way that consumers buy and lease their vehicles, social entrepreneurs Slobin and Weissman say that DriveWise Auto allows consumers to buy or lease vehicles in a socially responsible way that connects their vehicles to the charitable organizations they support. Through this new relationship, and by extending its new and used auto-buying and leasing services to the Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society, DriveWise Auto intends to build an entirely new and ongoing method of fundraising for the organization.

"DriveWise Auto is not just another way to buy a car! We're an organization that is trying to make a difference to the community at large and specifically to not for profit organizations that are addressing the needs of society," says Bryan Weissman, Vice President and CFO for DriveWise Auto. "We make auto-buying and leasing easy and hassle free, we guarantee competitive pricing, and we make a donation to the charities chosen by our clients at no additional expense to them or to the organizations who refer them to us."

Linley Funke, whose father has multiple sclerosis, says, "I absolutely could not believe that buying my new car could be so easy. I was told elsewhere that the car I wanted wasn't available, but DriveWise Auto managed to find me the right car for a price that was better than what I was quoted," she said about her purchase experience. "They made a donation to the National MS Society on my behalf. The process and the service they provided couldn't have been any better, and I know who I'm calling the next time I need a car."

Since it began operation in late 2007, DriveWise Auto has donated in excess of $15,000 to the charitable organizations chosen by its clients.

About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and it stops people from moving. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S., and 2.5 million worldwide.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society

MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn't. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS. In 2007 alone, through our home office and 50 state network of chapters, we devoted over $136 million to programs that enhanced more than one million lives. To move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested over $50 million to support 440 research projects around the world. We are people who want to do something about MS NOW. Join the movement at nationalMSsociety.org.
