The aftermath of the energy crisis led the California State government to mandate an Energy Action Plan designed to eliminate outages and excessive price spikes. The plans were meant to increasing the energy conservation, building sufficient new generation facilities, upgrading and expanding the electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure, and ensuring that generation facilities can quickly come online when needed.

Some of the solutions made was the development of alternative energy efficient lighting alternatives. The California Energy Commission paved the way to addressing the energy scarcity by providing a cutting edge in the lighting systems for residential kitchens.
